in Sainted, France. He married and subsequently has six children.

Palissy begins
his quest for the secret of enameling.

Palissy meets
with moderate success as a ceramist.
ca. 1555
Palissy begins
making rustic ware and is patronized by Anne de Montmorency, high
constable to the king of France.
1562
Palissy is arrested
for his religious activities as a Protestant and is sentenced to
hang in Bordeaux. At the urgings of Anne de Montmorency, the queen
mother, Catherine de Medicis, intervenes and Palissy is appointed
Potter and Inventor of Rustic Ware to King Charles IX.
1565
Catherine de Medicis
and her son King Charles IX visit Sainted. Palissy is commissioned
by Catherine to design and build a grotto for the Palace of the
Tuileries. He moves with his family to Paris.
1567
Palissy's grotto
is partially installed in the Tuileries. Anne de Montmorency, Palissy's
supporter among the royalty, is killed in battle.
1572
Protestants are slain in the Saint Bartholomew's Day Massacre.
Palissy moves to Sedan, France.
1573
The Peace of La
Rochelle is declared and Palissy is able to visit Paris.
ca. 1576
Palissy returns
to Paris to live.
1588
Palissy is imprisoned
in the Bastille for his religious beliefs.
